About this tour

This 4 Day Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor combines some of Egypt’s most famous ancient temples with the unique experience of sailing through the heart of Upper Egypt. From the moment the cruise begins in Aswan, the atmosphere becomes slower, quieter, and more connected to the Nile itself.

The journey includes visits to Philae Temple, Kom Ombo Temple, Edfu Temple, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, giving you the chance to experience both the historical and scenic sides of Egypt in one complete trip.

What makes the experience special is not only the temples, but also the feeling of traveling along the Nile between each destination. Watching daily life on the riverbanks, relaxing on the sun deck, and sailing past palm trees, desert landscapes, and small villages creates a side of Egypt that feels timeless and difficult to experience anywhere else.

With Respect Tours, Egypt Through Local Eyes, the cruise is carefully organized to provide comfortable accommodation onboard, guided sightseeing, full-board meals, and smooth transfers throughout the journey.

Itinerary

Your journey begins in Aswan, one of the most peaceful and scenic cities along the Nile. Upon arrival, your Respect Tours representative will meet and assist you before starting your first experiences in Upper Egypt.

The day begins with a visit to Philae Temple, beautifully located on an island surrounded by the Nile. Reached by boat, the approach to the temple is part of the experience itself, with calm water, small boats, and beautiful river scenery creating a relaxed atmosphere before you even arrive. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, Philae is famous for its elegant columns, detailed carvings, and unique riverside setting.

Continue to the Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering landmark that transformed life along the Nile and offers impressive panoramic views over Lake Nasser and the surrounding desert.

Next, visit the Unfinished Obelisk, still lying inside its ancient granite quarry. Standing beside the massive stone gives a real sense of the scale, ambition, and engineering skills of the ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago.

After the visits, transfer to your Nile cruise for check-in and lunch onboard. Spend the rest of the day relaxing on the sundeck, enjoying the peaceful Nile atmosphere, or watching traditional feluccas sail across the water as the sun begins to set over Aswan.

🍽️ Meals: Lunch & Dinner

Wake up to a peaceful morning on the Nile as your cruise sails through the beautiful scenery of Upper Egypt. Along the riverbanks, you’ll pass palm trees, small farming villages, fishermen, and quiet desert landscapes that make this part of the journey feel calm and timeless.

Around midday, arrive at Kom Ombo Temple, one of the most unusual temples in ancient Egypt. Located directly beside the Nile, the temple is dedicated to two gods, Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder, giving the temple its famous double design. The riverside location, detailed carvings, and open views over the Nile make this temple feel very different from other temples in Egypt.

After the visit, return to the cruise and continue sailing toward Edfu while enjoying lunch onboard and the relaxing atmosphere of the river.

Spend the rest of the day enjoying the facilities onboard, watching daily life along the Nile, or relaxing on the sundeck as the cruise remains docked in Edfu for the evening.

🍽️ Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinne

After breakfast onboard, visit Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, the temple is famous for its huge entrance, tall columns, and detailed ancient carvings that are still clearly visible today.

After the visit, return to the cruise and continue sailing toward Esna. Along the way, enjoy the peaceful Nile scenery while passing small villages, palm trees, and local life along the riverbanks.

One of the highlights of the day is crossing the Esna Lock, where the cruise slowly moves through this important waterway before continuing toward Luxor.

Enjoy lunch onboard before arriving in Luxor later in the afternoon.

Once in Luxor, begin exploring the East Bank with a visit to Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex ever built in ancient Egypt. The enormous columns, statues, and grand ceremonial halls reveal the scale and power of ancient Thebes.

Continue to Luxor Temple, one of the most elegant temples in Egypt, beautifully connected to Karnak by the famous Avenue of Sphinxes and especially beautiful in the softer afternoon and evening light.

Return to the cruise for dinner before enjoying the traditional Galabeya Party onboard, one of the most enjoyable evenings of the Nile cruise experience.

4 Day Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor

After breakfast on board, check out from your Nile cruise before starting your final day in Luxor.

Begin the tour on Luxor’s West Bank with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of ancient Egypt were buried inside tombs carved deep into the desert mountains. Your ticket includes entry to three tombs, where you’ll discover colorful wall paintings, ancient symbols, and scenes connected to beliefs about the afterlife.

Continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most impressive temples in Egypt. Built against the limestone cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, the temple is famous for its unique design and the story of one of Egypt’s most powerful female rulers.

Before the tour ends, stop briefly at the Colossi of Memnon, the massive twin statues that have stood on Luxor’s West Bank for more than 3,000 years.

After the visits, transfer for your departure from Luxor.

Traveler’s Tip: The West Bank can become very warm during the day, so light clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
