At Abu Dabbab, one of Marsa Alam’s richest marine habitats begins at the edge of a golden beach. Coral reefs border the bay, while wide seagrass beds provide an important feeding ground for large sea turtles and, occasionally, the rare dugong.
The Abu Dabbab snorkeling and beach day combines guided exploration of this underwater environment with plenty of time to enjoy the bay itself. Swim above the seagrass, follow the reef to spot tropical fish, then return to the beach to relax under an umbrella or take another swim when you’re ready. The sheltered setting makes it easy to enjoy both the water and the shore without rushing between activities.

Travel from your Marsa Alam hotel to Abu Dabbab Bay, where the golden beach curves around clear, sheltered water. After arriving, settle into the beach area, meet your snorkeling guide, and prepare for the day. You may bring your own snorkeling equipment or rent a mask and fins from the beach for an additional charge.
Before entering the water, your guide will explain the snorkeling route, safety instructions, and how to observe the bay’s wildlife without disturbing it.
The Abu Dabbab snorkeling experience begins directly from the shore. As you move farther into the bay, the sandy bottom gives way to wide seagrass areas where large sea turtles are often seen feeding. A dugong may also visit these waters, although sightings depend entirely on the movement of the animal and cannot be guaranteed.
Follow your guide toward the coral areas bordering the bay. Swim above the corals and look for colorful fish and other Red Sea marine life before returning to the beach.
After snorkeling, enjoy the included lunch and spend the rest of the day at your own pace. Swim again, relax on a sun lounger beneath an umbrella, walk along the sand, or browse the shops around the beach area as the afternoon moves closer to sunset.
At the end of your beach day, meet your driver for the transfer back to your hotel in Marsa Alam.
The snorkeling route and time in the water may change according to weather, visibility, sea conditions, and the guide’s decision. Sea turtles and dugongs are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Please bring: Swimwear, a beach towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and your own snorkeling equipment if you prefer not to rent it at the beach.
