After breakfast, leave Cairo and travel north toward Wadi El Natrun, one of the most important spiritual centers in Christian Egypt and a place deeply connected to the history of monastic life in the desert.
Surrounded by quiet desert landscapes, Wadi El Natrun became a place of prayer, isolation, and worship for early Christian monks centuries ago. According to Christian tradition, the Holy Family also passed through this region during their journey across Egypt, making it one of the most meaningful stops along the Holy Family route.
During the day, visit four of the most famous monasteries in the area. Begin with the Monastery of Anba Bishoy, one of the most respected monasteries in the Coptic Orthodox Church. Continue to the Monastery of Al Baramus, known as one of the oldest monasteries in Wadi El Natrun.

Unlike the busy atmosphere of Cairo, Wadi El Natrun feels calm and peaceful. The desert surroundings, old stone monasteries, church bells, and simple monastic life make this part of the journey especially meaningful for many visitors following the Holy Family route.

Inside, visitors can see ancient churches, old icons, stone passageways, and peaceful courtyards still used by monks today.
Continue to the Monastery of Saint Paul, located deeper in the desert mountains.
