About this tour

This Luxor West Bank Tour takes you into the royal burial grounds of ancient Thebes, where pharaohs and powerful rulers built tombs and temples meant to last for eternity. Designed for travelers who want more than a quick sightseeing trip, the experience combines hidden royal tombs, monumental architecture, and dramatic desert landscapes in one well-paced day.

The journey includes the Valley of the Kings, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, three of the most important and iconic sites on Luxor’s West Bank.

What makes the West Bank especially fascinating is the contrast between underground tomb chambers, towering stone statues, and temples carved into the cliffs of the Theban desert, each connected to stories of kingship, power, and beliefs about the afterlife.

With Respect Tours, Egypt Through Local Eyes, the tour is designed to feel smooth, insightful, and comfortable from beginning to end, with expert guidance and carefully organized transportation throughout the day.

Itinerary

Your day begins with pickup from your hotel or Nile cruise in Luxor before crossing to the legendary West Bank, home to the royal tombs and funerary temples of ancient Thebes.

The experience starts at the Valley of the Kings, where generations of pharaohs were buried inside hidden tombs carved deep into the desert mountains. Your entry ticket includes access to three tombs, while special tombs such as Tutankhamun’s Tomb require an additional ticket. Inside the tombs, you’ll discover colorful wall carvings, ancient symbols, and scenes connected to Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.

Next, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues that have stood on Luxor’s West Bank for more than 3,000 years. The site offers a perfect short photo stop before continuing the journey.

Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then continue the tour.

In the afternoon, visit the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most remarkable temples in Egypt. Built against the limestone cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, the temple is famous for its unique architecture and the story of one of Egypt’s most powerful female pharaohs.

For travelers looking to explore more, an optional visit to the Valley of the Queens can also be arranged, including the possibility of visiting the Tomb of Queen Nefertari, known for its beautifully preserved colors and detailed artwork.

At the end of the tour, return to your hotel or Nile cruise in Luxor.

Traveler’s Tip: The Valley of the Kings can become very warm during the day, so light clothing, comfortable shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen are highly recommended.
