This day trip to Luxor from Sharm El Sheikh takes you from the Red Sea to the world’s greatest open-air museum, where temples and royal tombs tell stories that go back more than 3,500 years. In just one day, you will fly to Luxor, explore four of Egypt’s most impressive historical sites, and return to your resort the same evening with memories that will last a lifetime.
In Luxor, you will visit some of the most iconic sites in Egypt, including the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. With your expert Egyptologist guide, each site becomes more than just a stop; you understand the stories, beliefs, and history behind these incredible monuments.
Everything is arranged for you. A private car will collect you from your hotel early in the morning, and your guide will handle all entrance fees, transfers, and explanations throughout the day. All you need to do is show up and enjoy one of the most rewarding day trips from Sharm El Sheikh.
With Respect Tours, this is not just a day excursion; it is a chance to walk through 3,500 years of history in a single day, guided by local experts who know Luxor inside and out.
Your day begins early with pickup from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh and a short transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor. In less than an hour, you arrive in the heart of ancient Thebes, where your Egyptologist guide will be waiting to begin your full-day exploration.
Begin your exploration at Karnak Temple, a vast complex that was not built by a single king but expanded over generations. It is the largest religious complex ever built, constructed over 2,000 years by successive pharaohs. Walk through the famous Great Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns rise 21 meters high and are covered in detailed painted hieroglyphs, one of the most breathtaking spaces in the ancient world.
Cross to the West Bank to explore the famous Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried deep inside the mountains. Here, you step inside royal tombs cut into the rock, where vivid wall paintings still hold their color and meaning. These chambers were designed for eternity, and walking through them offers a rare connection to the world of the pharaohs.
Continue to the stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most unique temples in Egypt, built into the cliffs. The story behind it is just as powerful: a female ruler who claimed the throne and built one of the most remarkable temples in ancient history.
Before leaving the West Bank, stop at the Colossi of Memnon. These two massive statues have stood guard over the Theban necropolis for more than 3,000 years.
After a well-earned lunch at a local restaurant, begin your journey back. You will transfer to Luxor Airport for your return flight to Sharm El Sheikh, arriving in the evening and heading back to your hotel with a full day of history behind you.
Traveler’s Tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen. Luxor can be much hotter than Sharm El Sheikh, especially in the middle of the day.
